Thriller NYC: The zombie dancers of the Village Halloween Parade

Thriller NYC has performed Michael Jackson’s “Thriller” in the Village Halloween Parade since 2004. The community group brings together beginners and experienced dancers.

What to Know

• Choreography

  The group rehearses its own version of the dance, including how to move together along the parade route.

• Costumes

  Dancers supply their own zombie outfits and makeup.

• Preparation

  New dancers must attend both indoor and outdoor rehearsals.

• Participation

  Dancers must be at least 15; those ages 15–17 need an accompanying adult. Joining the troupe requires paid registration.

• More than dancers

  The group also includes float riders and perimeter volunteers known as zombie bouncers.
