What to Know
The Manhattan Matches
Pro Recco faced reigning NCAA champion UCLA on September 3 and Hungary's FTC-Telekom on September 4 at Asphalt Green. Princeton also met FTC on the first evening, bringing European clubs and American college programs into the same schedule.
The Princeton Weekend
DeNunzio Pool hosted Pro Recco against Princeton on September 6, with a second FTC-Telekom meeting scheduled for September 7. The Princeton Invitational was open to the public.
A Clinic for Younger Players
Pro Recco and Princeton Tigers Water Polo Club organized instruction for athletes ages 11-18. Players and coach Sandro Sukno worked with participants, while coaches could observe technical and tactical methods.
An American Connection in the Roster
United States national-team captain Max Irving joined Francesco Di Fulvio, Alvaro Granados, Rino Buric, Andrea Fondelli, Francesco Condemi, and goalkeeper Gianmarco Nicosia. The group brought Olympic and world-championship experience to the visit.
Preparing for a New Season
Founded in 1913, Pro Recco used the trip to combine preseason competition with contact across the American water-polo community. The club's official tour record preserves the schedule and clinic information.
