Hello, and welcome to a New York City Sights & Sounds Virtual Tour! I'm Vladdy, your friendly guide, and I'm here to show you some of the most amazing sights and attractions in New York City.

Forest Hills Gardens is a historic and beautiful neighborhood in Queens, New York. It is one of the oldest planned communities in the United States, inspired by the garden city movement from England. It has a distinctive architectural style, featuring Tudor revival houses, brick walkways, and landscaped parks. It is also a private community, managed by the Forest Hills Gardens Corporation, which has strict rules and regulations for its residents.

Forest Hills Gardens was founded in 1909 by the Russell Sage Foundation, a philanthropic organization that aimed to provide affordable housing for the working class.

The neighborhood was designed by architect Grosvenor Atterbury and landscape architect Frederick Law Olmsted Jr., the son of the famous designer of Central Park.

The neighborhood covers 175 acres and has about 4,500 residents. It consists of 11 apartment buildings and nearly 1,000 individual homes, as well as churches, schools, and shops.

The neighborhood has a unique entrance plaza, called Station Square, which features a domed tower and arcaded walkways. It resembles an English country manor or a fairytale village.

The neighborhood is home to Forest Hills Stadium, a historic venue that hosted the U.S. Open tennis tournament from 1915 to 1978. It also hosted concerts by famous artists such as The Beatles, Bob Dylan, and Jimi Hendrix.

The neighborhood is governed by a covenant that sets rules for the preservation of its architectural character and the maintenance of its common areas. The covenant also restricts the sale and rental of properties to outsiders.

I hope you enjoyed this virtual tour of New York City. Thank you for joining me today. If you have any questions or feedback, please feel free to share them with me. Have a wonderful day! 😊
