Madison Avenue is a north-south avenue in Manhattan, New York City, that carries northbound one-way traffic. It is named after Madison Square, which is itself named after James Madison, the fourth president of the United States. Madison Avenue is known for being the center of the American advertising industry since the 1920s.
34th Street is a major crosstown street in Manhattan, New York City, that runs from the West Side Highway on the west to the FDR Drive on the east. It is home to many famous landmarks, such as the Empire State Building, Macy’s Herald Square, and Penn Station. 34th Street is also a shopping and transportation hub, with many stores, restaurants, and subway and bus lines.
The Empire State Building is a 102-story Art Deco skyscraper in Midtown Manhattan, New York City. It was completed in 1931 and was the world’s tallest building until 1970. It is one of the most iconic and recognizable buildings in the world, and a symbol of New York City. The Empire State Building has an observation deck on the 86th floor and a smaller one on the 102nd floor, offering panoramic views of the city and beyond. The building also features a distinctive lighting system that changes colors for various occasions and events.
Herald Square is a major commercial intersection in Midtown Manhattan, New York City, formed by the intersection of Broadway, Sixth Avenue, and 34th Street. It is named after the New York Herald, a newspaper that was formerly headquartered there. Herald Square is best known for being the location of Macy’s flagship department store, which hosts the annual Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade. Herald Square also contains a small park with a mechanical clock and a statue of James Gordon Bennett, the founder of the Herald.
