What to Know
A First Staging Outdoors
NYBG announced the worldwide debut as a nine-week limited engagement. The route evoked Halloween Town through a series of settings rather than following the film scene by scene.
Characters Along the Trail
Jack Skellington, Sally, Zero, Oogie Boogie, the Mayor, and Dr. Finkelstein appeared across the installations. Dimensional figures and projections brought their forms into the garden after dark.
Light, Video, and Fabrication
Programmable LEDs, theatrical lighting, interactive video projection, and fabricated sculptures shaped the walk. Trees and shifting sightlines connected the separate scenes to the surrounding grounds.
The Film's Music
Danny Elfman's score and songs linked the environments along the route. Familiar passages accompanied the visual scenes, connecting the outdoor installation to the film.
A Seasonal Family Visit
The all-ages trail accommodated strollers. NYBG's 2024 announcement records the original engagement and its access arrangements.
