TheNakedNYC documents the 2026 Flower Market at Center Plaza, including the colorful plush stems and visitor displays.
What to Know
A Four-Day Midtown Installation
Flower Market occupies Center Plaza for four days, beginning Thursday afternoon and continuing through Sunday evening. The event is free and does not require a standard admission ticket. Rockefeller Center says the posted hours can change depending on flower availability, an important detail for anyone planning a late-day visit.
How the Flower Market Works
Hendry's installation uses plush flowers in place of cut blooms. The stems are arranged as a working market, so visitors move through the display and choose a flower to take home. One stem is included for every guest. Additional stems cost $5 each, allowing visitors to assemble a larger bouquet while supplies last.
New York Flowers Shape 2026
The 2026 collection introduces new designs based on flowers native to New York. That local focus distinguishes this edition from the 2025 Rockefeller Center market, which presented 27 new designs and a separate twenty-eighth flower connected to Top of the Rock. Rockefeller Center has not published a total design count for the 2026 collection.
The Artist Behind the Market
Cj Hendry is an Australian artist from Brisbane who lives and works in New York. She is known for large, hyper-realistic drawings and for installations that turn familiar objects into spaces people can enter and use. Her practice began with detailed black-and-white drawings and later expanded into colored pencil, sculpture and large public projects. Flower Market applies that same close attention to an everyday subject, replacing fresh petals with soft, oversized forms.
From Roosevelt Island to Rockefeller Center
The first New York Flower Market drew overwhelming crowds to Roosevelt Island in 2024. Rockefeller Center's account says police shut the site because of overcrowding, after which Hendry rebuilt the installation overnight at Industry City in Brooklyn. The project moved to Center Plaza in September 2025. The 2026 engagement is its second Rockefeller Center edition and its third New York presentation.
Dining, Merchandise and Faster Entry
Limited-edition Flower Market merchandise is available on-site. During the event, guests dining at 5 Acres, Jupiter, NARO or Le Rock receive one complimentary flower with their bill. Visitors who want expedited market entry can purchase a Flower Market Express ticket, which also includes admission to Top of the Rock. Regular entry to Flower Market remains free.
Plan Around Demand
The installation has a history of long lines, and the free stems are distributed while supplies last. Arriving earlier in the day may reduce the risk of limited availability, although Rockefeller Center does not guarantee wait times. Visitors should check the official event page before traveling for any same-day change to hours or access.
