What to Know
Recreating the Arles Garden
Inside the Haupt Conservatory, horticulturists evoke the hospital garden Van Gogh painted in Arles in 1889. Architectural references and changing beds of plants translate the painted setting into a living one.
Sunflowers at a Different Scale
Cyril Lancelin places giant sunflower forms on the conservatory lawn among real plantings. Visitors can move through the repeated shapes rather than looking from a single fixed position.
Three Contemporary Approaches
Lee Baker and Catherine Borowski of Graphic Rewilding contribute large floral graphics. Amie Jacobsen adds three-dimensional work, while Lancelin explores scale and repetition through immersive sculpture.
Painting From Life
Plein Air Drop-In and Paint sessions invite visitors to work outside from flowers and landscape. The activity returns attention to the close observation behind Van Gogh's paintings.
An Evening Program
Selected Starry Nights add music, food, drinks, and weather-dependent drone shows inspired by Van Gogh. NYBG describes the presentation as New York City's first drone show at a cultural institution. The official NYBG archive preserves exhibition details.
